About Us

The Camel Trail is a disused railway line that follows the Camel Estuary from Padstow to Wadebridge before wending through the deep and beautifully wooded Camel Valley onwards to Bodmin. This beautiful converted vintage train carriage is named in honour of the train which once puffed its way from Waterloo to Padstow between 1926 and 1967. The last ACE left Padstow in Cornwall on 5 September 1964 and it’s incredible to be celebrating this important slice of history over 50 years later. The sympathetic renovation of this old carriage was a true labour of love and took three months to renovate into the beautiful al fresco dining carriage you see today.

We've Been ACE Longer Than You Might Think!

We started our journey on the Camel Trail in 2008 as Treats On Trikes and also ran The Cornish Crepe Co. in Padstow from 2009.

We have boasted green and socially-conscious business credentials right from the very start. Protecting this Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) whilst celebrating its rich heritage is of paramount importance, and the focus is on treading lightly and respectfully in everything we do.  We use compostable packaging, donate proceeds to the local food bank at the end of the season, and organise regular litter picks up and down the trail to conserve and enhance the natural beauty all around.

Wildlife on the Trail

If you’re looking for a place to eat in North Cornwall with a difference, ACE is where it’s at. Sipping a flat white whilst taking in the sights and sounds of the estuary’s wildlife is nothing short of magic. Spending time immersed in nature is a powerful way of improving your well-being and increasing happiness, and wildlife abounds at this tranquil spot. Otters, Herons, Stoat’, Kingfishers, Hummingbird Hawk Moths, Curlews and Egrets are all among the fascinating species regularly sighted along the Camel Trail.
